Prelude to a Kiss III (My Knight In Shining Armor or Nah)

When I received the message from the generous donor I was shocked to say the least. As you know from Prelude to a Kiss II (The Flowers), I tried, unsuccessfully, to gather intelligence on the donor at the urging of the “big panty crew”.  Truthfully, the “big panty crew” put the “fear of God” in me and made me freak out about what initially seemed like a very romantic gesture. On edge, I called the florist and attempted to win her over so that she would “spill” and tell me who sent the flowers. After keeping me on hold for so long, I knew the florist was talking to him, letting him know that I was seeking his identity. As I waited patiently, a little embarrassed by my reaction, I was hoping that she was not also telling him that I seemed to be a little on the dramatic side. When she finally clicked back over to speak to me I knew, before she said a word, that no matter how much skill I possessed in the art of persuasion, I would still be clueless at the end of our conversation. The florist weighed the money spent with my desire to know the giver and decided that I would simply have to be left in the dark on this one.

Fortunately, the donor soon reached out to me, deciding that I did not deserve to be left in the dark. While putting my mind at ease by revealing himself, he also crushed my ego by making it abundantly clear that the flowers were nothing more than a kind gesture to brighten my week. Talk about leaving no room for confusion! LOL!!!

Obviously I was briefly disappointed that this thoughtful man was not going to be my  “knight in shining armor” . However, I was also extremely thankful for the many smiles he did in fact put on my face. Being a woman in her 40’s I was well beyond that “convince him he is the one for me” phase so I appreciated the clarity that he offered when it came to his intentions. This clarity allowed us to develop a healthy dialogue that did not include the “potential relationship” dance.

We maintained communication for a period of time after the flowers but soon our lives took us in two very different directions and the distance between us made it easy for our regular communication to fade.

After a little more than a year of sparse communication here and there, the donor reached out and shared that he was planning to travel to my “neck of the woods” for an event. His request seemed simple enough: Could I recommend some decent places to dine? Without hesitation I assured him that I could, and, I would.  After some thought I suggested that we try to meet while he was on this end of the country. After all, we would probably never have this opportunity to chat face to face again and I definitely wanted to meet this generous soul regardless of the fact that he was not my “knight in shining armor”. Or was he?

  1. In my opinion, when GOD sends us blessings, we, in our own perception, which is our realty, interpret it (like we should) in what we want or seek at that time…… Suppose he was fat and ugly in your eyez…. Would he still be welcomed in your life? or would you take the message or jester like it was supposed to be given?…. Or, is this gentleman good at enticing? Suppose it was a woman? Then how would you have taken it? I am a kind of human being, If I want something I play it direct…. I don’t have time for games…….. I find your words enticing and passionate…… Thanx for being you…… Did you receive my link from Create space….. One of my colleagues want an opinion……. MWAH…..
